Luxury Pashmina Shawls

I bought one of these to replace a pashmina I'd had for 16 years ( and lost). This is nothing like the quality of the one I lost (which 16 years ago cost much more than this) and so my husband bought another from another company online for my birthday. Nearly twice the price and when it arrived it was identical to this product. So I don't think my replacement from here is going to last 16 years, and still be going, but I do think this company is offering a good product at a fair price. (Posted on 14/03/2012)

I absolutely love my pashmina. I have bought many pashminas over the years and the one I have just bought from Wool Company is by far the best. I frequently fly long-haul and hate the airline blankets so I always take a pashmina The quality is exceptional, unbelievably soft and luxurious.

I have bought a couple of these for my wife now (chestnut and blue), and she loves them: wears them all the time, summer and winter, and they often attract envious comments. One of them has travelled the world with her, and still looks like new, so durabiliy isnt a problem. They got the ultimate accolade the other day, " These are so nice, I would like one in every colour".

It is worth mentioning the small pack size, which makes them versatile to wear ( they are big and apparently toasty warm), but also means they can be posted through a standard sized letterbox with no problem at all ( so no waiting in the house, and no visits to the Post Office). I´m very surprised by the reviews this shawl has received, as this is unfortunately a low qulity item. the only reason why some people are so exited is probably because they have never seen a cashmere shawl of proper quality. Let me tell you why: as mine arrived I could per se tell it was cashmere, but the "shawl" is woven in the same way as gauze fabric - very loosely! In fact, my finger accidently got suck inte the long shawl causing a HOLE in the weave! I could pull the threads back, but this is not a durable or classy accessory by any standard, and I have quite a lot of cashmere to compare to. You must watch out for any handles, harm rests etc and to be honest this is not what you expect from an accessory worth almost £100, because this is cashmere gauze, nothing else. it is soft and warm, but the apearance is cheap. Mine also reaked of old fashion moth repellent - very offputting and hard to get rid of! I was very dissapointed as the lavender colour is very nice. To be fair to the wool company, they refunded my money very quickly.

Wool Company Response: We have been selling our pashmina shawls for the past 18 months. All our testamonials are genuine, and we very rarely need to refund or exchange for a faulty one. They are all hand woven and, yes they are delicate; the size of the weave is clearly shown on our close up images. We all own at least one of our pashminas here, and are not particularly gentle with them, and have had no problems with holes. The shawl that was returned was faulty, and we would have been happy to exchange it. The smell is very unfortunate - it is not moth repellent, but very rarely, when the pashminas are finished and pressed in Nepal, there is some residual moisture in the fabric, and as they are then packed immediately in plastic, the moisture cannot escape and smell is of damp. If they are aired for a day, the smell goes completely ( but obviously we would be happy to replace / refund) but we would emphasise that this is very unusual. Our manufacturer in Nepal supplies other very well known brands, most of which sell these for far more than we do - up to £120.00 each.
